Finostri is located in Markneukirchen, a city in Saxony, Germany, that has been known for the manufacture of string instruments since the 17th century. Over the centuries, Markneukirchen has developed into a center for the production of high-quality string instruments, particularly violins, violas, and cellos.
The origins of string instrument manufacturing in Markneukirchen date back to the 17th century, when a few individual craftsmen began to make violins and other string instruments in their workshops. Over time, more and more workshops emerged, and production increased as demand for string instruments grew. In the 18th century, several schools were established in Markneukirchen to train young people in the art of string instrument making.
In the 19th century, production of string instruments in Markneukirchen reached its peak. There were over 300 workshops producing more than 2000 instruments per year. The instruments were sold throughout Europe and even overseas. Markneukirchen became an important center for the string instrument industry and gained worldwide reputation.
However, Markneukirchen also faced some challenges. In the 20th century, there was a decline in demand for handmade instruments and many workshops had to close. In recent decades, the industry has stabilized, and there are still some reputable instrument makers in Markneukirchen who produce high-quality string instruments and rely on the traditions of the past.
