Cristofaro Violin

This antique violin, which dates to circa 1900, has an exquisitely flamed maple back. Its hazelnut-brown varnish is in good shape and exhibits age-appropriate signs of wear. Its easy response and sonorous tone create an inviting atmosphere around this instrument. De Cristofaro, who resided in Paris from 1892, built both before and after this time both violins and also mandolins in his Neapolitan workshop. In this environment, simple, honest instruments were created that are meant to serve the joy of making music. The same is true of this violin.
