About this unique piece:

This cello originates from the French school, as was popular at the end of the 19th century – the great Mirecourt manufactories Thibouville-Lamy and Laberte-Humbert set the tone and produced a variety of models and quality levels. This included exquisite limited series made in select, affiliated master workshops. This instrument may well have come from one of them, considering the distinct craftsmanship: the red-brown varnish is very dark and strongly applied, but still allows a view of the first-class, beautiful, narrowly and evenly flamed maple of the back and ribs. The gentle arching of top and back already suggests that this instrument – considering its size and the resulting volume of air that is moved within the body – produces a powerful and assertive sound.

This sound is characterized by fullness, presence and clarity: In the basses, the cello reveals an almost epic range, and in the middle register it captivates the listener with a highly differentiated balance. This combination, coupled with its powerful presence, allows this cello to stand out particularly radiantly in the baritone range. The treble sounds pleasantly warm and mellow – even in the treble the full sound is maintained.

This instrument fascinates and captivates with very unique qualities and is best enjoyed in concert halls, in ensembles, in other words: on stage. We hope that it will soon enchant as many people as possible with its sound.
